Outfit Oracle ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.
Data We Collect
We collect only the minimum data required to provide app functionality:
- Location (approximate): Used once per session to retrieve your local weather so outfit recommendations match today's conditions. Location is not stored by us and is not used for any other purpose.
- Photos: Photos you add to wardrobe items are stored locally on your device. If you use the automatic item-recognition feature, the selected photo is securely sent through our proxy to a third-party AI provider to identify the item (name, type, and color). The photo is used only to process that request and is not stored by us afterward.
- Wardrobe & Settings Data: Your clothing items, wear history, and preferences are stored locally on your device using device storage. This data never leaves your device.
- Anonymous App ID & Usage Data: To prevent abuse and keep the service running, a third-party identity and analytics service assigns your app installation an anonymous identifier, and we count how many AI requests it makes each day. We use this data to enforce fair-use limits and to understand overall app usage in aggregate. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information.
- Product Usage & Analytics Data: To understand how the app is used and to improve it, we collect anonymous usage events through Google Firebase Analytics — for example which screens you view, which onboarding steps you complete, and which features you use (adding wardrobe items, requesting recommendations, doing laundry, viewing the paywall). These events include only non-identifying details such as counts, item types, and style names — never your photos, your name, or any free text you type. Firebase also automatically collects standard technical information such as your device model, operating system version, app version, and a general geographic region derived from your IP address. This data is associated only with the anonymous app identifier described above and is not linked to your name or email. Analytics collection is disabled in our internal test builds.
Third-Party Services
Outfit Oracle relies on a small number of third-party service providers to operate. We share only the minimum data described below, and require these providers to protect it:
- Weather Provider: Your approximate location (latitude/longitude) is sent to a third-party weather service to retrieve current conditions. No personally identifying information is included.
- AI Provider (via our secure proxy): Your wardrobe item list (names and colors), the current weather, any photo you submit for item recognition, and any occasion description you type are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate outfit recommendations and identify items. No personally identifying information is included. Requests pass through our own secure proxy; your data is not stored by us after the request completes.
- Identity & Analytics Provider: A third-party service issues an anonymous app identifier and stores an anonymous per-installation count of AI requests. This is used to enforce fair-use limits and for aggregate analytics, and contains no personal information.
- Analytics Provider (Google Firebase Analytics): Anonymous product-usage events (see “Product Usage & Analytics Data” above) are sent to Google’s Firebase Analytics to help us understand feature adoption and improve the app. These events contain no personal information and are associated only with the anonymous app identifier. Google processes this data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
- Purchases Provider: A third-party service manages in-app purchases and subscriptions and may collect a device identifier for purchase validation purposes.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party beyond what is described above and what is strictly necessary to operate the app.
Data Retention
All wardrobe data, wear history, and settings are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. On our servers we retain only a minimal, anonymous per-installation count of AI requests (associated with the anonymous App ID) to enforce usage limits and for aggregate analytics; this contains no personal information. Anonymous product-usage analytics collected through Google Firebase Analytics are retained by Google according to our configured retention period and are used only in aggregate to improve the app. Photos, weather, and recommendation requests sent to our proxy are not stored after the request completes.
Children's Privacy
Outfit Oracle does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
